Shiraz is the wool clip of Australian wine farming. Barossa being pre-eminent. Bosward family is lucky to be here. Barossa is enigmatic in its ability to adopt any variety and transcend generations. It is literally an agricultural paradise. With shiraz vines aged at nearly 180 years, pre-dating the French, and heritage cuttings being transported back to Europe, we are the natural home for this grape. We own it. We are the old world.
With some of the most diverse and oldest soils on the planet, styles, naturally are vast. The 2024 Bosward Shiraz, is a look into a modern future. Old oak maturation has revealed a brighter more fruit orientated expression of Shiraz, freshness released and not encumbered with distracting oak aromas and flavour. Early picking and bottling have exposed another dimension of this diverse grape.
It’s hard to avoid the power and drive of Barossa Shiraz. In particular how a season like 2024 can radiate it. Easier to embrace it rather than try to tame it. The 2024 forces upon you all that is shiraz, a wide array of red, blue and black fruits. The palate is supple but determined. Without the shackles of new oak, it shows itself. No jewellery, just natural beauty, good bones.
Will age, but it has been designed to enjoy young and develop in the future.

"Shiraz from Barossa from the magnificent, sweary, all round good guy, Reid Bosward (Kaesler ahoy!).Lots of inky depth and persistence. Choc-cherry, maraschino, ripe plum, salted plum, choc liquorice, salted liquorice, mint, fig and date. Lots and lots happening here. A black hole in some respects but feels so pure, rich, yes, punchy and full, sure, but the dimensions we’re travelling in are a few for sure. Slick texture, silky finish, fresh as despite the pull. It’s a ripper. An absolute ripper."

"The fruit for this pleasing Barossa Shiraz hails from three vineyards in
the Tanunda/Bethany sub-regions. The colour is a dark mauve with a
vibrant crimson rim. The nose exhibits notes of plums, black cherries,
smoked meats and freshly unearthed root vegetables. There is a sleek
and soft texture, quite seductive, with fine tannins on the finish. A wine
of medium length, which is well constructed and has very good balance."
